This week I stumbled across an amazing Missoni ad campaign shot by famed Juergen Teller (the guy responsible for all the wacky Marc Jacobs ads).  The campaign features the entire Missoni clan gathered at Missoni founders, Rosita and Tai's home.  I have absolutely no idea how I never noticed or saw these ads when they started running in February, but I am now even more in love with this family and brand!

I really enjoyed seeing these pictures and thought they would be a perfect ending to the week.  Now we know what a family gathering with one of the most fashionable families in the world would be like:)

And since we are talking about ad campaigns, I thought I would also include one of my most favorite Kate Moss ads and yep, it happens to be for Missoni - love it:)

I've had the above image saved for awhile when the a few days ago Sarah from Jeune Marie posted this

inspiration board for her bedroom.  I was immediately drawn to the nightstands. 

In her description she mentioned that the nightstands were a diy project  from Little House Blog. 

Click here for step by step instructions to create this great look!  The transformation is pretty amazing and seems fairly simple.  You can acieve this look with any piece of unfinished furniture.  I'm not sure where or what piece of furniture I could try this, but I really want to - I love this look!

stud muffin

I l-o-v-e my earrings!  Earrings are my answer to questions like "i can't leave the house without ______" or "I feel naked without_____".  I started wearing earrings in the early 90s when they were all very small and petite. 

Then, the revival of huge hoops and 70s inspired hipster jewelry returned and my motto quickly turned to "the bigger the better":)

But now I'm starting to see itty-bitty earrings everywhere, and I have to say that I'm kind of excited about the change.  It seems like the pyramid stud is the most popular at the moment which isn't surpring since they are putting gromets and studs on everything lately!

Express has a ton in the store, but the online options are a little limited.  I promise they have several cute pairs in the store including the pyramid stud!

I love, love, love all the studs at Free People!  Aren't they perfect casual cute?

I know the brunette will go crazy over those tiny little horses:)

But Shopbop probably has the best options and they are all around $30-$50.  Here's a few of my faves!

A little orange velvet

I have these chairs.  Technically they are my mom and dad's chairs that I have "borrowed" for the past 5 years. (and counting...)

I know what you're thinking - those are orange velvet chairs!  But they are the most comfortable chairs you could ever sit in (and have matching ottomans to drag out for a movie or something) - and I LOVE them.  I have loved them for as long as I can remember because they are older than I am.  :o)  I remember drawing patterns in the velvet when I was younger.

So imagine my excitement, when suddenly I keep seeing orange velvet chairs popping up all over the place in magazines!  My chairs are trendy!

A couple slightly different styles...

I did take notice that all these pics have something in common - they all have a matching pillow in each chair.  I think it really adds interest and symmetry.  So I found a couple at TJ Maxx to add to my set and am really happy with the way it turned out!  I'm hoping to find a small round table to set between the chairs, but for now, I'm making it work (I think) with this ottoman.

Heads Up!

I will never forget this day in design school.  My professor walks in and says "Everyone write down the name of your favorite restaurant."  Play along with me - think of your favorite restaurant.

I think, "Easy - Noodles" (that was my favorite restaurant in Fayetteville at the time).  Wrote it down.

Next my professor says, "Okay, now describe the ceiling."

Me: "Uhhhh....."

Could you do it? 

That day was my first realization that I'm not nearly as observant as I thought.  From that day, I try my very hardest to be conscious of taking in my surroundings - and always noticing the ceiling.  So why is it, that we neglect the ceiling?  Why do we paint it white and move on?  I think ceilings should make a statement too!  And so do some of these homeowners...

I came across this great room while I was camping last weekend and catching up on some mags.  I know the scan is terrible - apologies!  But I love this white room with a purple ceiling.  Warning: this technique will make the ceiling seem lower - but if you have a really open space with high ceilings - it's a great way to help "cozy it up". 

Why wouldn't we paint the ceilings in nurseries -

don't babies just look at the ceiling all the time anyway??

Not only do I love these stripes, but the continuation on the ceiling is so striking and draws your eye up.

Although I did notice that cute dog art before I looked up.  :o)

Wallpaper on the ceiling - sounds difficult - but so pretty!

I know I'm recycling this photo from last week, but you don't see wallpaper on the ceiling very often and it kind of blows me away.  I don't necessarily love this pattern, but I think the idea is phenomenal.

I can't quiiiiite tell what is going on at this ceiling from the photo, but from another shot I have of the same room, it seems to be some kind of texturing.  Amazing.

It is hard for me to take my eyes off this chandelier, because as quirky as it is, I'm in love with it.  More on that later.  But the woodwork on this ceiling is incredible.

Brick and stone ceilings are so rustic and warm to me, but you don't see them very often in the United States...

Besides ceiling treatments, you may find other surprises when you look up.  Airplanes and clouds - who would've thought to put those together?  :o)

Call me crazy but these flowers look real to me.  Not sure how this works, but I think it's beautiful.
