tying the knot: (with rope of course)

For the second or third year in a row, nautical looks are in fashion this spring.  Although I'm a huge fan of all things sailing and love the look, I'm growing a little weary of the red/white/navy combo.

Recently I came across these really cool rope pieces of jewelry from Anthropologie and it got me thinking - what a great way to add some texture to your outfit and wear a hint of the nautical look without going overboard?!  (ha - get it?  "overboard")

And they have so many options!!

A necklace...

A belt...

A bracelet...

A headband...

If you're not sure you want to shell out the money for this trend, why not make your own?!

I personally think this (above) is a great casual look and fully intend to make one of my own!

For a more polished look, pop over to ...love, Maegan for a DIY for under $10!!

So easy - so cute!

Still too artsy-craftsy for you?  How about copying these looks from the Marchesa Resort runway and just tying a belt around your waist and letting it hang?!  LOVE IT!!

Sophia Kokosalaki ties the rope around models' waists for her Fall 2010 runway shows for an effortless belted look.

STILL not convinced?  Okay, how about just tying some rope around objects in your house - it adds great texture!
